Udon in Fushimi(Nagoya) @ 山本屋本店 広小路伏見店

It started off well. The vegetables were fresh and tasted good. However the main course, the Udon, was extremely disappointing. The noodles didn't seem properly cooked and neither the noodles nor the soup were particularly tasty. The restaurant on the other hand is very nice and the staff was very friendly, but that can't save a restaurant if the food is no good.

Now I do have to note, the fact I was so displeased may have something to do with the fact, I don't particularly like Udon. Also illustrated by this restaurant's fairly high rating on tabelog.com. However, I do remember eating this dish last year in Nagoya aswell, at the restaurant of the mother of a friend. This restaurant's price was twice as high at 1785Yen, but the other restaurant's food was more than twice as tasty.

Recommendation: If you don't care about food at all, this place is quite good, if you want to eat something tasty though, stay clear. Then again, it's quite popular on tabelog.com, so maybe I'm not a Udon guy.
